Come Unto Me

Jesus Christ offered us this invitation:

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

In view of the fact that we are all sinners and  that we are lost without the blood of Christ, it would seem that people would not have a hard time accepting the awesome invitation of the Lord. However, it is quite clear that some people are simply not in a rush to obey the gospel. When you ask someone why they are waiting you will hear a wide variety of excuses. Annanias asked Paul, “And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on His name” (Acts 22:16).  Is there really a good reason for not becoming a Christian? I have never heard one. We have a great need of salvation and the Lord has extended the invitation to be saved. Why wait?
