Jesus is Lord

Every person must answer the question, "who is Lord of my life?"

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:11).

The very first sermon about who Jesus is was preached on the day of Pentecost. Peter proclaimed:

"Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified” (Acts 2:36).

There is only one who is Sovereign and that is Jesus Christ (Jude 4; 1 Corinthians 8:4).

We must obey the Lord

Jesus once asked:

"Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord' and not do what I tell you?" (Luke 6:46).

If Jesus is Lord of your life you will obey Him. Is the Lord telling you to do something? Perhaps you need to obey Him by being baptized (Mark 16:16), forgiving someone who hurt you (Matthew 6:14-15), or sharing the gospel (Matthew 28:18-20). Whatever it is that Jesus is telling you to do, do it!

We must reject all other competing lords

Satan wants us to think that we can serve Christ as Lord and other lords at the same time. However Jesus said that is not possible:

"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money" (Matthew 6:24).

Every day we must put Jesus in charge of our lives so that we will not have room for any false lords (1 Peter 3:15).
